Roman Tomb, Ancient Roman burial tomb in Silistra, Bulgaria
The Roman Tomb of Silistra features a single burial chamber measuring 3.30 by 2.60 meters with a semi-cylindrical brick vault and east-facing entrance.
Constructed in the mid-4th century AD before the Gothic invasion of Durostorum between 376 and 378 AD, the tomb remained unused due to regional conflicts.
The interior walls display detailed frescoes depicting servants in procession, while the western wall presents portraits of the master and his wife.
Visitors need to make reservations through the Regional Historical Museum of Silistra, with guided tours available from May to September on weekdays.
The tomb stands out for its complete interior coverage of multi-colored mural paintings, including scenes of hunting, peacocks, pigeons, and plant motifs.
