Museu Casa do Anhanguera

Museu Casa do Anhanguera is a two-story colonial house with traditional rammed earth walls and a distinctive three-slope roof typical of the period. Inside, original furnishings, household objects, and historical documents show how people lived within these rooms.

The house was built around 1750 and served as the residence of Bartolomeu Bueno da Silva, a Portuguese explorer who led inland expeditions during colonial times. It stands as evidence of Portuguese settlement and this family's role in the region's colonial past.

The house belonged to a family that shaped the region, and its rooms show how wealthy colonists lived and organized their daily routines. The furnishings reveal what objects and customs mattered most to these residents.

The museum sits at Largo da Matriz 9 in the historic center and is easy to find using the church square as a landmark. Plan enough time for a guided tour to fully appreciate the building's construction techniques and the items on display.

This is the only surviving urban bandeirista house in Sao Paulo state that keeps its original colonial architecture completely intact. Its construction methods show craftsmanship techniques that have not survived elsewhere in the region in this form.
