Mikhailovsky Square, Garden square in central Minsk, Belarus.
Mikhailovsky Square is a garden plaza in central Minsk with paved walkways, seating areas, and arranged flower beds distributed throughout. The space lies between several streets and provides an organized green area with regularly planted vegetation.
The square came into being in 1925 near a former market area and received its current name in 1934. A major redesign in 1998 shaped it into its present form.
The square displays sculptures by Vladimir Zhbanov, including a memorial related to a tragic event and a figure of a smoker. These artworks shape the character of the space and create moments for reflection.
The square is accessible by metro at Ploshchad Lenina station and easily reached on foot from surrounding streets. Visitors can freely explore the area during daylight hours and find plenty of places to sit.
The square features distinctive lantern designs positioned along its pathways, giving it a particular character. These lighting elements contribute to the feel of the place, particularly as daylight fades.
