Kutseinski Bohai︠a︡ŭlenski manastyr, Orthodox monastery in Orsha, Belarus.
Kutseinski Bohai︠a︡ŭlenski monastery sits where the Dnieper and Kuteyinka rivers meet on the northwestern edge of Orsha. The complex includes a reconstructed Holy Trinity Church and other structures that form a functioning monastic community.
Founded in 1623, the monastery rapidly became a major religious center with around 200 monks by 1640, operating a printing house for Cyrillic texts. This printing operation played an important role in spreading religious and scholarly works across the region.
The monastery comes alive through regular Orthodox services and monastic life that continue its spiritual traditions. Visitors can experience the rhythm of daily religious practice and witness how the community honors the Orshanskaya icon of the Mother of God.
The monastery is roughly 1.7 miles from central Orsha and welcomes visitors year-round. Wear comfortable shoes and dress respectfully, as this is an active place of worship where religious services take place regularly.
Hidden within the monastery grounds is an ancient cave monastery dedicated to Lazarus's Resurrection, which researchers discovered between 1910 and 1926. This underground sanctuary offers a rare glimpse into earlier forms of monastic practice in the region.
