Holy Spirit Cathedral, Orthodox cathedral in Upper Town, Minsk, Belarus
The Holy Spirit Cathedral features two multi-tiered towers and a curved pediment decorated with a mosaic icon of the Virgin Mary.
The cathedral building started as a Catholic Bernardine monastery church in 1642, converted to Orthodox use in the 1860s after numerous reconstructions.
The cathedral holds sacred Orthodox relics including the remains of Saint Sophia of Slutsk and the venerated Minsk Icon of the Mother of God.
The cathedral conducts regular Orthodox services, baptisms, and weddings, with preparatory religious education sessions held every Thursday and Friday.
Underground passages from the cathedral's courtyard lead toward the Svisloch River and connected to another monastery through brick-lined tunnels.
