Morden, Agricultural town in Pembina Valley Region, Manitoba

Morden is a town in the Pembina Valley Region of southern Manitoba, situated along Dead Horse Creek. It sits about 11 kilometers west of Winkler and near the international border, serving as a center for the surrounding farming community.

The Canadian Pacific Railway established the settlement in 1882 on land owned by the Morden family, shaping the region's development. This railway station grew into the municipality that exists today.

The town's Corn and Apple Festival each August brings residents together to celebrate farming traditions through free corn, fresh cider, and live performances. This event reflects how agriculture shapes community life and identity here.

The Access Event Centre serves as the main community hub, offering indoor sports facilities and event spaces. The Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre is located downstairs and provides another reason to visit.

The Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre holds Canada's largest collection of marine reptile fossils, with a mosasaur specimen measuring about 13 meters long on display. These remains were uncovered in the local area, making this an unexpected destination for anyone interested in ancient life.
