Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery

Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery extends across 343 acres on Mount Royal, featuring 55 kilometers of lanes and paths through landscaped grounds with mature trees.

Established in 1854 on land purchased from Dr. Pierre Beaubien, the cemetery was designed by Henri-Maurice Perrault after studying rural cemeteries in Boston and New York.

The grounds contain 65,000 monuments and 71 family vaults representing French Canadian, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Greek, Polish, Ukrainian, and Huron communities.

The cemetery provides traditional burial plots, indoor columbaria, mausoleums, and eco-friendly options including biodegradable urns placed under growing trees.

The cemetery shares a single opening in its fence with Mount Royal Cemetery at the military sections, where 445 Commonwealth service members are commemorated.
