Edmundston, Administrative center in Madawaska County, New Brunswick, Canada.

Edmundston is a town in Madawaska County located at the intersection of New Brunswick, Maine, and Quebec along the Saint John River. The municipality spreads across multiple residential and commercial areas organized around this major waterway.

The settlement began as Petit-Sault and was renamed in 1848 to honor Lieutenant-Governor Sir Edmund Head of New Brunswick. A major pulp mill was built in 1911, fundamentally reshaping the town's economic development and future.

French-speaking residents define the character of this border town, where the French language, local traditions, and customs shape daily interactions. This heritage is visible throughout the streets, shops, and in how people gather and celebrate together.

The town provides all essential services for visitors and residents, including administrative offices, shops, and basic amenities. Walking or driving are the best ways to explore the town, as everything is relatively accessible.

A botanical garden nearby houses rare plant species and offers visitors a quiet spot to explore nature and horticulture. This facility is a hidden gem for anyone interested in regional plant life.
