Halifax Stanfield International Airport, International airport in Goffs, Canada
Halifax Stanfield International Airport is an international airport in Enfield, Nova Scotia, serving as the main aviation hub for Atlantic Canada. The facility features a single terminal with domestic and international departure halls, plus connections to numerous North American and European destinations.
The airport opened in 1960 to replace an older facility closer to Halifax. Over the decades the terminal and runways were expanded several times to accommodate growing international traffic.
The terminals display regional art installations and craft pieces that introduce visitors to the maritime culture of Nova Scotia. Travelers find local specialties and handmade products in shops both before security and after check-in.
The main access road runs directly off Highway 102, with signposted routes guiding drivers to short-term and long-term parking areas. Bus connections to downtown operate regularly, and all levels of the terminal are wheelchair accessible.
An underground tunnel leads from the parking garage straight into the terminal, keeping travelers dry in rain and snow. This enclosed walkway is heated throughout and remains comfortable even during Canadian winters.
