Smiths Falls

Smiths Falls is a town in Lanark County, Ontario, located where the Rideau Canal meets the Mississippi River. The waterway features four navigation locks spread across three locations, making this spot a key point where water transport connects the region.

The settlement began after 1786, when Thomas Smyth, a United Empire Loyalist, received land grants in the area. The place became incorporated as a village in 1854 and gained town status in 1882.
