Collège Bart, Private college in Quebec City, Canada

Collège Bart is a private college on Côte d'Abraham in Quebec City, founded in 1917. It offers pre-university and technical DEC programs, including graphic design, 3D production, photography, cinema and video, computer science for video games, and legal techniques, plus continuing-education attestations. Its building has a light grey facade with "COLLEGE BART" in dark letters above a grey ground floor, and steps with a metal railing leading to the entrance.

Founded in 1917 by Jean-Baptiste Bart, a teacher who came from France, the college began as a language school and bilingual secretarial training in the founder's residence at 34, rue Couillard. It later moved to rue Richelieu, then above the Capitole de Québec on rue Saint-Jean, before settling on the Côte d'Abraham. Jean-Guy Bart and later Marjolaine Bart led it, and four generations have headed the school, which marked its centenary on 8 November 2017.

Since 2011 the college has held an annual Grande Dictée, a French dictation contest whose gold, silver and bronze prizes are awarded at the Gala Méritas. Themes have drawn on the 1969 Moon landing, the October Revolution and Honoré Beaugrand's La Chasse-galerie; Alexandra Bastille-Lavoie won gold in 2018 and 2019.

The college occupies a building on the Côte d'Abraham, marked by dark "COLLEGE BART" letters above a grey ground floor; steps with a metal railing lead to the entrance door. It is a private teaching institution, not a public site, so visits should be arranged with the college rather than made on spec. The move to this address followed earlier premises on rue Couillard, rue Richelieu and rue Saint-Jean.

Four generations of the Bart family have led the college: founder Jean-Baptiste Bart, then his son Jean-Guy Bart, then Marjolaine Bart, board chair and director of financial services, with Nicolas Bellerose joining in 1998 and Dominique Bellerose Bart in 2013. The school began in the founder's home at 34, rue Couillard before moving to rue Richelieu, then above the Capitole de Québec on rue Saint-Jean, and finally to Côte d'Abraham.
