EXcentris

EXcentris was a digital arts center located on Saint-Laurent Boulevard that dedicated large spaces to film screenings and digital media production. The facility contained multiple cinema halls and specialized rooms designed for events and creative work.

The center was founded in 1999 by a local patron who wanted to support independent cinema and digital arts. It remained a hub for experimental film culture for more than fifteen years before closing in 2015.

The center served as Montreal's main gathering place for independent filmmakers and experimental cinema lovers who wanted to see work outside mainstream distribution channels. It helped establish a community around alternative film culture in the city.

The location is accessible by public transit and sits in an active neighborhood with other cafes and restaurants nearby. Since the facility is no longer operating, a visit focuses on viewing the building architecture from outside.

The center was Montreal's sole venue for years that consistently offered experimental film art alongside digital media production under one roof. This combination made it an unusual space where visual artists and filmmakers shared creative facilities.
