Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Cœur, Administrative sector in Brossard, Canada
Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Cœur is an administrative sector occupying the western portion of Brossard, stretching from Alain Street to Boulevard Grande-Allée. The rectangular territory encompasses the neighborhoods between Baillargeon Street and Lapinière Boulevard.
This sector originated in 1855 as an independent municipality carved from La Prairie de la Magdeleine territory. It maintained separate governance for over a century before joining Brossard in 1978.
The territory maintained its local governance through a council of six members and a mayor who served two-year terms to address community needs.
This area sits roughly three kilometers from the Saint Lawrence River and forms a well-defined region within Brossard. The regular street grid makes the zone easy to navigate on foot with clear boundaries.
Two Catholic primary schools, Notre-Dame on Riendeau Street and St-Michel on Pauline Street, served as anchors for community life in this area. These institutions remain part of the neighborhood's identity and everyday landscape.
