Awenda Provincial Park is a large protected area along Georgian Bay's shore featuring dense forests, hiking trails, and a lake for water activities. The park offers camping options including spots for RVs and tents throughout its land.

The park was created in 1975 to protect the natural environment and geological features of the Georgian Bay region. This action was part of efforts to preserve wild lands across Ontario.

The Wendat Trail loops 5 km around Kettle Lake, following stretches of its shore, and a built boardwalk carries walkers over the wetlands. Birdwatchers watch for blue herons, loons and small birds from the viewing areas along the route.

The park has more than 30 kilometers of marked hiking trails winding through different areas. Wear sturdy boots and check weather conditions before heading out on the paths.

Giants Tomb Island, about 3 km offshore in southern Georgian Bay, belongs mostly to the park, but no overnight camping is allowed and no facilities are provided there. The Robitaille Homestead Trail instead leads to sand dunes estimated at 11,500 years old, formed after the last glacial retreat; climbing the hillside or bluff edge is prohibited so plants can reestablish.
