Medway-Sydenham Hall, Student residence hall at University of Western Ontario, Canada.
Medway-Sydenham Hall is a student residence complex at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. It consists of several connected buildings offering single and double rooms, shared kitchens, and common lounges for group living.
The complex grew out of two separate men's dormitories built in the late 1950s and early 1960s on the Western Ontario campus. The two buildings were later merged into one shared community open to all students regardless of gender.
Medway-Sydenham Hall draws students from across Canada and abroad, making the shared spaces a natural meeting point for people from many different backgrounds. The common rooms and hallways tend to fill with activity at the start of each term, when new residents settle in and form friendships.
The residence sits in the middle of the university campus, within easy walking distance of lecture halls, libraries, and dining halls. Some areas are reserved for registered residents, so visitors should keep that in mind before planning a trip inside.
An underground tunnel links the different sections of the complex, letting residents move between buildings without going outside in winter or rain. Many new residents only discover this passage after a few weeks, once they start exploring beyond their own floor.
