St-Robert meteorite, Meteorite fall location in Saint-Robert, Quebec, Canada

The St-Robert meteorite is a stony meteorite that fell and scattered across a wide area in Quebec. Fragments were discovered in shallow pits across the region, and pieces remain housed in scientific collections for ongoing research.

In June 1994, a meteoroid entered Earth's atmosphere and created a fireball visible across multiple regions. This was the first scientifically documented stony meteorite fall to occur in Quebec.

The St-Robert meteorite represents the first stony meteorite discovered in Quebec and the twelfth recorded meteorite fall in Canada since 1887.

The fall location lies on private farm property and is not open to the public, but meteorite material is displayed and studied in museums and scientific collections. To learn more about this find, visit museum exhibitions or educational institutions in Quebec.

A farmer discovered the first chunk just minutes after the fall in a pit on his land. This quick discovery allowed scientists to collect and study fresh samples from the event.
