Reversing Falls Bridge, Road bridge in Saint John, Canada

The Reversing Falls Bridge spans 190 meters across the Saint John River, featuring two traffic lanes and pedestrian walkways on both sides.

The first bridge at this location, constructed in 1853 by Joseph Tomlinson, was replaced in 1915 with a steel arch structure designed by Philip Louis Pratley.

The bridge serves as a central observation point for viewing the natural phenomenon of the Reversing Falls, where river waters change direction with tidal cycles.

Vehicles can cross the bridge without paying tolls on New Brunswick Route 100, connecting the eastern and western sections of Saint John.

The bridge stands above rapids where the Saint John River and Bay of Fundy meet, creating water level changes of 8.5 meters during each tidal cycle.
