Area 506 Waterfront Container Village, Open-air event venue and music space at Saint John waterfront, Canada
Area 506 Waterfront Container Village is an open-air event venue at Saint John's waterfront, made up of more than 60 converted shipping containers that house retail shops, performance spaces, food areas, and entertainment zones. The containers are arranged along the water to create distinct functional spaces for different activities.
The venue opened in 2022 as an expansion of the previous Area 506 Vendor Village and became an established waterfront destination. The conversion of shipping containers reflects a new approach to reimagining port areas for public use.
The venue displays public artworks and hosts performances that honor Saint John's maritime roots. Visitors can see how local artists and performers celebrate the connection between the city and its port.
The venue operates from May through November, typically open Wednesday to Saturday from 11 AM to 6 PM and Sundays from 12 PM to 5 PM. Since the location sits directly on the water, weather can change quickly, so dressing in layers is helpful.
Each container features both a garage door and a regular door, allowing every business to set up its space according to its specific needs. This flexibility makes the space adaptable for many different types of shops and vendors.
