White Wind Zen Community, Zen meditation center in Ottawa, Canada
White Wind Zen Community is a meditation center based in Ottawa with additional locations in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, and Harrow, England. The organization provides remote training through email and telephone, along with access to more than 2000 recorded dharma talks for distant students.
The organization was founded in 1985 as White Wind Zazenkai, named after the Hakukaze-ji monastery. It changed its name to White Wind Zen Community in 1989.
The community shares Zen teachings through daily meditation sessions and monthly workshops. Participants practice traditional methods to develop awareness and inner stillness.
The center is accessible for students who prefer to train remotely, as it offers distance programs through various communication methods. Visitors can participate in sessions flexibly from anywhere, as long as they can connect with the center.
The community includes both the Northern Mountain Order, a monastic group, and different categories of lay practitioners from around the world. This structure allows both dedicated and casual practitioners to participate in their own way.
