Marie Curtis Beach, Beach in Toronto, Canada

Marie Curtis Beach extends along Lake Ontario with a sandy shoreline that transitions to pebbles at the water's edge. The beach provides space for swimming and sunbathing, and connects to surrounding park paths through a trail network.

The beach area was developed in the 1950s as part of a larger recreational development project. This initiative transformed the waterfront into a public leisure destination.

Residents gather here especially during summer months for events and cleanup activities focused on lake conservation. The beach serves as a gathering place for families and as a venue for environmental education and community involvement.

The swimming beach sits on the east bank of the Etobicoke Creek mouth and is monitored by the City of Toronto from June to Labour Day; it closes after major rainstorms until E. coli levels fall. A trail crosses the park east to west over a bridge, and the western bank has a boat launching area and parking lot. The dog off-leash area lies just east of the Mississauga boundary.

At the western edge of the beach, Etobicoke Creek flows into Lake Ontario, creating a natural boundary. This area is an excellent spot for bird watching and shows the connection between river and lake ecosystems.
