Description
The Niagara Apothecary is a pharmacy museum in Niagara-on-the-Lake that preserves the original shop interior from the 1800s. The space contains black walnut counters, wooden storage cabinets for medicines, and a large collection of glass bottles of different sizes and shapes used for storing medicines.
History
The pharmacy opened in 1820 and operated as a working business for the local community for more than 140 years. It closed in the 1960s but was later restored and opened as a museum to show visitors how healthcare functioned in that period.

The building shows how pharmacists worked and served their community during the 1800s through its arrangement of work areas and storage. Visitors can observe the daily rhythm of a working pharmacy from that era reflected in how the space is organized.
