Fürstein, Mountain summit in Central Switzerland.

Fürstein is a grassy mountain of the Emmental Alps on the border between the cantons of Lucerne and Obwalden, reaching 2040 metres. Its west and north sides drop steeply and rockily for about 200 metres, while the east and south flanks are gentler. South of a saddle at roughly 1950 metres follow the subsidiary summits Fürstein Südgipfel (1994 m) and Chli Fürstein (1900 m); the ridge continues east to the Wissguber (1941 m).

The Glaubenberg region where this summit stands has long been an important crossing point between different Swiss cantons. The mountain passes connected local communities across generations.

The name Fürstein combines Swiss German "Für" with "Stein" (rock), pointing to the rocky west and north faces that drop about 200 metres. South of a saddle at roughly 1950 metres stand the two subsidiary summits Fürstein Südgipfel (1994 m) and Chli Fürstein (1900 m). Southeast at 1689 metres lies the Sewenseeli, with the alp and chapel Ober Sewen just above it.

The main trail starts from Alpwirtschaft Stäldeli and requires sturdy hiking boots and weather-resistant clothing for mountain conditions. The route is frequently used, especially on nice weekends, so starting early is advisable.

South of the 2040 m main summit, a saddle at about 1950 m separates two secondary tops: the Fürstein Südgipfel at 1994 m and the Chli Fürstein at 1900 m. Below them, at 1689 m, lies the small Sewenseeli, with the Alp and chapel of Ober Sewen just above it.
