Schimbrig is a mountain in the Emmental Alps that rises to about 1,800 meters above sea level. Its summit can be reached via several hiking trails that wind through rocky alpine terrain.
In the 1800s, a spa resort called Schimbrig Bad was built at the mountain's base to take advantage of a natural sulphur spring. The complex was destroyed by fire and never rebuilt.
The mountain stands as part of the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch, ranking as the 27th highest peak among 96 mountains in this protected natural area.
The mountain can be approached via multiple hiking trails suited to different ability levels. Visitors should be prepared for alpine conditions and wear sturdy footwear depending on the season.
Its position between Abnistettenflue and Brienzer Rothorn gives the mountain a distinctive location within the Swiss Prealps. The area falls within the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch, a protected region known for diverse ecosystems.
