St. Moritz, Alpine resort municipality in Maloja Region, Switzerland

Saint Moritz stands at 1,822 meters above sea level in the Engadine valley, surrounded by mountains and lakes in the canton of Grisons.

In 1864, hotelier Caspar Badrutt convinced British summer guests to experience winter in Saint Moritz, initiating Alpine winter tourism.

The mineral springs, discovered in the Bronze Age and used through medieval times, established Saint Moritz as a health destination.

The resort features two main areas: Saint Moritz Dorf on the mountainside and Saint Moritz Bad near the mineral springs.

Saint Moritz became the first location to host two Winter Olympic Games, organizing the international competition in 1928 and 1948.
