The lake was discovered in 1943 and opened to boat visitors in 1949 after safety preparations. This subterranean space demonstrates how water shaped the landscape over thousands of years.
The underground lake offers multilingual guided tours in English, French, German, and Italian, educating visitors about local geology and Alpine formation processes.
Boat tours last around half an hour, and visitors should prepare for cool underground temperatures since the cave stays cold year-round. Sturdy shoes and a jacket are recommended for comfort during the visit.
The cave maintains a constant water temperature of 11 degrees Celsius throughout the year, while boats accommodate 40 passengers for 30-minute guided tours.
