Augstbordhorn

Augstbordhorn is a mountain summit in Valais reaching 2,971 meters above sea level. Its slopes display rocky terrain, scree fields, and boulder formations typical of high alpine environments.

The mountain was incorporated into the Swiss Alpine Club's network of hiking trails and multiple routes were established to reach the summit. This integration opened the peak to walkers from surrounding valleys.

Local mountaineers maintain multiple shelters near the summit, preserving the Swiss tradition of providing safe refuges for alpine adventurers.

Hikers can access the mountain from several starting points including Embd, Moosalp, and Brand/Unterbächen, all well connected to the transport hub of Visp. Travel to these areas by public transport is reliable and regular.

In late spring the lower meadows of this mountain transform into bright yellow fields of Arnica flowers. This natural bloom often surprises hikers encountering the display for the first time.
