The facility was established in 1965 and relocated to its present site in 2016. The move allowed for larger and more natural enclosures for the animals.
The zoo displays European animals in natural-looking habitats where visitors can observe them closely. You sense the focus on understanding how these creatures live and what they need to thrive.
The zoo grounds are well-marked with various paths for exploring the animal enclosures. Comfortable shoes are advisable since you will walk between the different areas on foot.
The zoo operates a medical care center for injured wild animals from the surrounding region. These animals receive treatment and are then released back into nature.
