Engelberg Abbey

Engelberg Abbey is a Benedictine monastery centered on a grand baroque church with extensive convent buildings surrounding it. The church houses one of the largest pipe organs in the country, which dominates the interior with its architectural presence.

The monastery was founded in 1120 and shaped the region for centuries. A major fire in 1729 destroyed the original structures, leading to a complete baroque reconstruction that gave it its current appearance.
