Researchers access the observatory's 1-meter ZIMLAT telescope and laser ranging equipment for studying space debris, asteroids, and conducting precise astronomical measurements.
The NASA Stardust mission collected particles from comet 81P/Wild, which was discovered at Zimmerwald Observatory, bringing these samples back to Earth in 2004.
