Oberried Estate, Manor house in Belp, Switzerland.
Oberried is a manor house in Belp with Rococo design elements, surrounded by formal gardens and several outbuildings on the grounds. The main building displays characteristic features from the 1700s that were preserved during extensive renovations from 2000 to 2001.
Victor von Fischer, connected to the Fischerpost postal service, had the manor built between 1735 and 1736. Later, Gottlieb Fischer expanded the property with additional structures.
The place now serves as a venue where concerts, theater performances, and dance shows bring contemporary culture into historic rooms. Visitors experience how the classical rooms have been given new life as spaces for artistic events.
The estate is located at Seftigenstrasse 118-120 in Belp and is open to visitors today. It is wise to check ahead what events are scheduled, as access and guided tours vary depending on the program.
The grounds contain the only remaining Gloriette garden pavilion in the Canton of Bern, added during the expansion by Gottlieb Fischer. This elegant structure is a rare survivor of this particular type of garden architecture from that period.
