Lohn Manor, Federal manor in Kehrsatz, Switzerland.
Lohn Manor is a country house in Kehrsatz with Neo-classical architecture featuring two main facades oriented toward the south and west, along with five bedrooms and a dining hall. The rooms display carefully proportioned formal design throughout.
The manor was built in 1782 for the Tscharner family and designed by architect Carl Ahasver von Sinner. The Swiss Confederation acquired the estate in 1942 as state property.
The interior displays artworks and furniture from the Welti collection, representing different periods of Swiss artistic tradition. These objects shape the character of the rooms and tell the story of artistic taste across generations.
The estate is located at Lohnweg 2 and now serves as a venue for government receptions and official events. Keep in mind that this function may affect when and how the public can access the property.
From 1942 to 1994, the estate served as the main residence for international dignitaries visiting Switzerland, including Winston Churchill and Queen Elizabeth II. During this period, it played an important role in the country's diplomatic hospitality.
