Worb Castle, Medieval castle in Worb, Switzerland
The castle complex includes a main keep, a great hall, a knight's house, and a Baroque residential wing added to the exterior wall in 1643.
Originally built in 1130, the castle changed ownership from the von Diesbach family to the von Graffenried family through marriage in the late 16th century.
The castle represents medieval Swiss architecture and holds designation as a Class A cultural property, demonstrating the evolution of noble residences through centuries.
The castle remains under private ownership by the Seelhofer family since the 1950s and maintains limited access for general visitors.
Christopher von Graffenried, born at Worb Castle, established New Bern, North Carolina in 1710 and became a Landgrave of Carolina.
