The Eisenbahnbrücke is a railway bridge crossing the Rhine River, connecting the right bank with the main railway station on the left side. The current structure, completed in 2012, features a separate pedestrian pathway alongside the railway tracks.

The original railway bridge was constructed in 1873 with a single-track lattice beam design. The structure required multiple reinforcements over time to handle increasing traffic loads.

The bridge plays a key role in Basel's daily transport system, linking the city with other Swiss regions and neighboring countries. Commuters and travelers cross it regularly as part of their journeys.

The 1962 steel bridge carries a pedestrian walkway attached on its downstream side; the 2012 second bridge beside it has a step-free walkway. Both are working railway crossings, so walkers stay on the marked path and keep clear of the tracks. The Schwarzwaldbrücke of the A2 motorway stands immediately to the west.

The bridge crosses a complex customs boundary while connecting Swiss territory with international rail routes. This makes it an important point for cross-border traffic in Europe.
