Neu-Falkenstein Castle

The medieval stone structure rises 16 meters high on a hill, featuring defensive walls and architectural elements from the 12th century.

Built around 1100, the castle suffered damage during an earthquake in 1356 and underwent reconstruction before its final destruction by peasants in 1798.

The castle holds class A Swiss cultural property status, representing medieval military architecture and noble residences in the Canton of Solothurn.

Visitors can access the castle ruins through marked trails, with parking facilities available at the base of the hill in Balsthal.

The castle's strategic position at 595 meters above sea level allowed guards to monitor movements throughout the surrounding valley system.
