Panoramic Tour of Chaumont, Observation tower in Chaumont, Switzerland.
Panoramic Tour of Chaumont is a concrete observation tower standing about 20 meters high and built in the early 1900s by engineers and architects. A ramp leads to a platform accessed by 56 steps, from which you can see across Lake Neuchâtel and the surrounding mountains.
The tower was built in 1912 according to designs by engineer Arthur Studer and architect Arthur Bura, and was notable for its modern concrete techniques. It was constructed during an era when observation platforms were becoming popular tourist destinations.
The tower demonstrates early twentieth-century concrete construction and stands as a protected cultural asset in the region. Many visitors use the spot to photograph the landscape and pause to take in the views.
Access to the platform is via a steel ramp, which is also reachable for visitors with mobility challenges. The view is best on clear, sunny days, so plan your visit accordingly.
On clear days, visitors can see three different lakes and several Alpine peaks including Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau from the platform. The view south extends to Mont Blanc, which makes this spot particularly interesting for mountain enthusiasts.
