Hagenturm, Steel observation tower in Merishausen, Switzerland
Hagenturm is a steel observation tower located in Merishausen, Switzerland, standing 40 meters tall with a lattice frame structure. From the top, visitors can see across the rolling hills and valleys of northeastern Switzerland.
Engineer Erwin Klaiber designed and built the tower in 1989, completing it within three weeks. It replaced an earlier surveying structure that once stood at the same location.
The tower serves as a central gathering point for the local community, where residents and visitors connect through shared experiences of nature exploration.
A spiral staircase inside leads to an open observation platform offering panoramic views. Visit on clear days for the best visibility across the surrounding landscape.
The tower sits just south of Canton Schaffhausen's highest point, making it a striking geographical marker. This proximity to the peak creates an interesting relationship between the structure and the natural landscape.
