Buochserhorn is a mountain topped with a monumental cross at 1,806 meters and offers views toward Lake Lucerne and the surrounding Alpine landscape. The area is crisscrossed by well-marked hiking trails that pass through forests and mountain meadows.

The 12-metre metal summit cross replaced an older wooden alpine cross and was built in 1961 by the Nidwaldner Jungmannschaftsverband. Building material was carried up via the Dallenwil–Niederrickenbach cable car, a transport rope and porters, and the cross was consecrated on 1 October 1961. Storm winds have repeatedly damaged the cross, which is anchored with eight steel cables.
