House of Religions - Dialogue of Cultures, Interfaith center at Europaplatz, Bern, Switzerland
The House of Religions is a modern building at Europaplatz in Bern designed specifically to accommodate eight different faiths. It contains dedicated prayer rooms for each religious community, a restaurant serving religiously appropriate meals, and spaces for exhibitions and events.
The institution was founded in 2002 and emerged from collaboration between Jewish, Christian, Islamic, Buddhist, and Hindu communities. This partnership was a pioneering effort to bring multiple religious communities together under one roof for the first time.
Members of different faiths actively use this place to share their traditions through art exhibitions, musical performances, and shared meals. Visitors experience directly how various religious communities bring the space to life and interact with one another.
The building is centrally located at Europaplatz and is easily accessible on foot or by public transport. Visitors can explore the exhibitions and use the restaurant at various times, with on-site information available to help understand the different areas.
The prayer rooms are intentionally connected through interaction zones, allowing visitors to directly experience and understand how different spaces of faith sit side by side. This spatial arrangement naturally encourages dialogue among believers during daily operations.
