Jesuit church with college, Catholic church building in Solothurn, Switzerland
The Jesuit Church features a grand neoclassical facade with intricate statues and reliefs depicting saints along its symmetrical stone exterior.
Construction of the current church structure took place between 1680 and 1689, replacing an earlier Gothic church from the late 13th century.
The interior of the church contains a high altar made from marbled wood, displaying the Assumption of Mary painted by Franz Carl Stauder.
Located at Hauptgasse 60 in Solothurn, the church maintains regular opening hours and offers guided tours with advance reservations.
During winter celebrations, the church exhibits the Ambassadors' Crib nativity scene, which stands as the only one of its kind in Switzerland.
