Kulturfabrik Kofmehl, Cultural center in Solothurn, Switzerland
Kulturfabrik Kofmehl is a cultural center in Solothurn featuring a main concert hall that seats around 900 people and a separate bar room that holds approximately 200 visitors. The two spaces can accommodate different types of events, from large performances to smaller gatherings.
The center began in 1992 when young people staged a theater performance in an unused factory building, which led to the creation of the Zwischenraum Association. This grassroots start in an empty industrial space became the foundation for what continues to grow today.
The name comes from the former Kofmehl flour mill that once operated on this site. Today it functions as a gathering place where different forms of artistic expression blend together under one roof.
The center is located at Kofmehlweg 1 in Solothurn and can be reached by phone or email if you need information beforehand. It is helpful to check the program ahead of time, as events take place throughout the year.
More than 250 young volunteers help organize and run events, allowing the non-profit association to function without large commercial backing. This network of committed helpers forms the backbone of daily operations.
