Vindonissa museum, Archaeological museum in Brugg, Switzerland
Vindonissa Museum is an archaeological museum in Brugg displaying finds from Switzerland's only Roman legionary camp. The collection comes from systematic excavations that took place over more than a century.
The museum building was constructed in 1912 in Art Nouveau style after architect Albert Froelich won a design competition. Its founding followed growing interest in the Roman sites in the region.
The interior spaces are designed after Roman house layouts, with mythological representations adorning the columns of the upper floor created by Werner Büchli. This design helps visitors imagine how people actually lived during that time.
The site is open from Tuesday to Friday and on Sundays, giving time to explore the different floors at your own pace. School groups can arrange special visits.
A statue of the Capitoline Wolf stands in front of the three-story main building, which features tower-like corner projections. This statue serves as a symbol of the site's Roman history.
