Burg Rifenstein

The stone remnants of Burg Rifenstein stand on a rocky outcrop at 610 meters elevation, featuring a residential tower and walled terraces.

Archaeological excavations conducted between 2009 and 2010 revealed that the castle served as a fortification from approximately 1200 to 1350.

The castle ruins form part of the cultural heritage list of Reigoldswil and hold a class B Swiss cultural property designation.

Visitors can access the restored ruins through a gate leading to an enclosed terrace, with recent renovations completed in 2014.

The residential tower construction required nine tons of stone and 3,440 kilograms of mortar, transported entirely by helicopter during restoration.
