Schloss Meienberg mit Ökonomiegebäuden und Park

Schloss Meienberg is a neoclassical manor house on the Meienberg hill in Rapperswil-Jona with adjoining farm buildings and an extensive park. The complex features stone walls with decorated window frames and a pond set within the landscaped grounds.

Johann Jakob Staub built the manor house in 1828 as part of his expansion strategy during Switzerland's industrialization. Later industrial families acquired and enlarged the estate by purchasing additional land.

The property reflects how prosperous factory owners from Rapperswil expanded into Jona during the 1800s, establishing their residences there. This movement shaped the local landscape and showed the region's growing economic influence.

The castle is privately owned and closed to regular visitors, but arranged visits may be possible under certain conditions. Local authorities can provide information about potential access arrangements.

The park includes a central pond that was part of an early 19th-century design approach for affluent country estates. This feature shows how industrial wealth owners expressed their prosperity through landscape design and architecture.
