Saint Jacob Armenian-Apostolic Church, Armenian religious temple in Troinex, Geneva, Switzerland
Saint Jacob Armenian-Apostolic Church is an Armenian place of worship featuring a stone facade made of tuff volcanic rock and a 16-sided tower topped with a light grey cross. Located in Troinex, the structure serves as a venue for prayer and religious celebrations of the Armenian community.
The church was founded in 1967 under the leadership of Catholicos Vazken I and resulted from community donations and generous support from local benefactors. This project marked an important moment for Armenian religious presence in Geneva.
The church preserves Armenian traditions through services conducted in Old Armenian and the use of organs during ceremonies. These practices set it apart from other Orthodox communities in the area.
The church is situated on Route de Troinex and welcomes Armenian congregation members and other visitors during prayer times and religious events. Easy access allows guests to join the community and experience the religious practices firsthand.
The building was inspired by the 6th-century architecture of Holy Hripsime church and houses a memorial dedicated to victims of the Armenian Genocide. These two elements connect historical memory with sacred space.
