Albergo Monte Verità

Albergo Monte Verità is a hotel complex perched on a hillside overlooking Lake Maggiore, designed with Bauhaus principles featuring clean lines and expansive windows. The property comprises multiple structures including Villa Semiramis, Casa Monescia, Casa Gioia, and Casa Marta, housing a total of 86 guest rooms.

The complex was built between 1927 and 1929 by architect Emil Fahrenkamp commissioned by Baron Eduard von der Heydt. The buildings preserve their original Bauhaus furnishings and reflect this important design movement's influence.

The property draws visitors through its role as a former gathering place where artists and thinkers left their mark on the rooms and collections. The spaces still reflect this creative legacy in how they are arranged and displayed.

The site sits on elevated terrain with parking available and good access roads, while the buildings are connected by pathways and stairs. Wear comfortable footwear since the terrain is hilly and some areas require walking to reach.

Before becoming a hotel, the grounds served as a center for alternative lifestyles and artist colonies in the early 1900s. This creative legacy continues to shape the artworks and collections visible throughout the site.
