The airport extends across 32 kilometers northwest of central Shenzhen, featuring three terminals designed to accommodate both domestic and international flights.

Opened in 1991 as Shenzhen Huangtian Airport, this transportation center marked the beginning of Shenzhen's rapid development as an international business hub.
