Ertan Dam, Hydroelectric power station on Yalong River, Sichuan Province, China.
The Ertan Dam extends 774 meters across the Yalong River with a height of 240 meters, forming a reservoir that covers 101 square kilometers.
Construction of the Ertan Dam, which began in 1991 and completed in 1999, required removing over 12 million cubic meters of material from the site.
The project brought together 700 technical specialists from 47 countries, marking China's first internationally contracted hydropower facility through global bidding processes.
Six hydroelectric generators within the underground power station produce a combined capacity of 3,300 megawatts, supplying energy to Sichuan Province.
The facility houses Asia's largest underground powerhouse, measuring 280 meters in length, 25 meters in width, and 65 meters in height.
