Mu Mansion, Ancient mansion complex in Lijiang, China
The Mu Mansion spans 32,000 square meters at the foot of Lion Mountain, featuring meeting halls, pavilions, gardens, and residential quarters spanning east to west.
The Mu family governed the Lijiang region as Tusi officials for 22 generations from the Yuan Dynasty through the Qing Dynasty, maintaining their administrative center at this location.
The mansion contains the Wanjuan Pavilion, which holds thousands of historical texts, scrolls, and paintings documenting the traditions of the Naxi ethnic group.
Visitors can explore the mansion between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with recommended duration of 3 to 4 hours to examine all sections of the complex.
Three imperial steles within Yishi Hall display the phrase 'Devoted to the Country,' marking the Ming emperors' recognition of the Mu family's governance.
