Saihanba National Forest Park

The park extends over 200 square kilometers of forested terrain at 1100 meters elevation, connecting to the Inner Mongolian Plateau in the northwest.

The land transformed from an imperial Qing Dynasty hunting ground in 1681 to a desert by 1863, until reforestation efforts began in 1962.

The Saihanba Mechanical Forest Farm workers initiated extensive tree planting programs that changed the entire landscape from barren land to dense forest.

The park maintains numerous trails for hiking and nature observation, with facilities for camping and outdoor activities throughout the designated areas.

The park houses 618 plant species, 261 mammal species, and experiences snow conditions for seven months of the year at temperatures averaging 1.3°C.
