Kongtongshan National Park

The mountain features red sandstone peaks, deep valleys, dense forests, and Buddhist temples spread across an area of 84 square kilometers at elevations up to 2,123 meters.

The mountain gained prominence when Emperor Huang Di sought wisdom from sage Guangcheng Zi, establishing its significance during the Qin and Han dynasties as a strategic point on the Silk Road.

The mountain complex contains 42 buildings, including eight platforms, nine palaces, and twelve courtyards, representing a blend of Buddhist and Taoist architectural traditions.

Visitors can access the mountain through a network of paths and cable cars, with optimal visiting conditions between July and September when temperatures average 8.6 degrees Celsius.

The geological formation presents the oldest discovered red rock layers in China, creating distinctive landscapes through centuries of water and wind erosion.
